Man Up Barbershop in Christchurch, have been styling great hair for men since 2009. Established by Julie Depree, the salon offers a classic barbering service with a contemporary twist: innovation. With two proficient, creative barbers at the helm, all styles are possible, the service is impeccable, and the results are as simple or technical as you want.
Julie is a qualified barber who trained with NZ Hair and Beauty Industry Training Organisation HITO.
Adhering to these certified standards and sustainable codes of practice is paramount to Man Up Barbershop. Julie instils that same ethical philosophy in the dozens of apprentices she has trained to next-level expertise and professionalism.
Having practised her craft for many years, she has links with top-notch hair salons New Zealand-wide and a network of connections to international influences. Those global designs trickle down to direct the high flying styles adopted locally today. Julie will happily replicate those styles in-salon or modify to suit the average Kiwi bloke’s more low-key approach
When Julie’s not busy tending to clients, you’ll find her flicking through the odd hair grooming magazine, upskilling on YouTube, or hanging out at home with her two kids.
Working alongside Julie is Tara Newman, another highly experienced Association of Registered Hairdressers (NZARH)-qualified barber. Tara is accomplished in all aspects of barbering and is specialised in hair colouring. Her background interest in men’s fashion has given her the ability to accurately read your personality and lifestyle requirements to transmute those into a great hairdo.
When Tara’s not at work, she’ll be listening to country music, baking, or lacing up her running shoes. Super-charged with positive energy, she has completed several half marathons and we are stoked to have her at Man Up Barbershop channelling that enthusiasm into making you look good and feel great.
